The IEC 63180 Infrared and Microwave Sensing Performance Test Dummy is a comprehensive testing system designed for standardized and repeatable evaluation of infrared (PIR) and microwave radar sensing products. By simulating human body dimensions, movement behaviors, and surface thermal radiation characteristics, the system quantitatively assesses detection distance, angular coverage, and trigger stability in controlled environments. This system is ideal for laboratory functional verification, performance comparison, product development, and production consistency testing.

Application

The test dummy is applicable to a wide range of sensing products and scenarios, reflecting mainstream testing requirements and industry-standard protocols:

Infrared motion-sensing lamps (PIR lamps)

Microwave radar motion-sensing lamps

Infrared and microwave hybrid sensing devices

Indoor and outdoor intelligent lighting sensors

Smart security human detection modules

Building automation sensing controllers

Smart home motion-sensing switches and modules

R&D stage performance verification of sensing products

Production consistency testing and type approval

Standards

The system can be used to verify and evaluate compliance with the following standards:

GB/T 17743 – Electromagnetic compatibility of electrical lighting equipment

GB/T 24824 – General technical requirements for infrared detectors (relevant clauses)

IEC 63180 – Performance testing methods for infrared and microwave sensing devices

Testing Principle

The system simulates controlled human movement within the detection zone of sensing products, providing stable and consistent stimuli under different distances, angles, and heights.

The robot moves along pre-set paths while the elevation/rotation platform adjusts the product’s installation height and orientation.

When a sensing product is triggered, the software automatically records the spatial coordinates of the event.

This produces complete sensing performance distribution data for quantitative evaluation.

Operation Instructions

Ensure the robot’s battery is fully charged for the complete test cycle.

Preheat the head and chest heating system to the target temperature and maintain stability.

For microwave testing, avoid large metal objects that could cause reflections.

Do not enter the test area during elevation or rotation operations.

Select the appropriate test mode (Mode 1 or Mode 2) according to the sensing product type.
